Legal Aid Society of Greater Cleveland

Sangfroid Strategy partnered with the Legal Aid Society of Greater Cleveland in a three-year strategic planning process to enhance its impact and effectiveness. We worked closely with the board and staff to identify key opportunities for systems change, capacity building, and stronger strategic partnerships. Through stakeholder engagement and in-depth analysis, we developed a roadmap that aligned organizational goals with client needs. The plan focused on improving internal efficiencies, expanding advocacy efforts, and ensuring long-term sustainability. By implementing this strategy, Legal Aid is better positioned to serve communities across Cuyahoga, Lake, and Ashtabula Counties.

Kettering Foundation

In 2023, Sangfroid Strategy partnered with the Kettering Foundation to develop a five-year strategic plan to position the organization as a leader in defending inclusive democracy. Through deep research and stakeholder engagement, we identified three key priorities that would guide the foundation’s long-term direction. We worked closely with leadership to align goals and strategies, ensuring the organization could measure progress and adapt to evolving challenges. In 2024, we continued supporting the implementation process, facilitating leadership retreats, managing organizational change, and developing a KPI dashboard to track success. Our work also included executive coaching and refining operational practices to enhance the foundation’s overall impact.

Starting Point

Sangfroid Strategy guided Starting Point’s board and staff through a five-year strategic planning process to strengthen the organization’s impact and sustainability. Following the plan’s completion in 2022, we continued supporting its implementation by developing seven key goals with strategies and measurable success metrics. Our work leveraged data and technology to optimize internal processes and created a multi-pronged communication strategy to enhance Starting Point’s visibility as a leader and advocate for families. The plan emphasized staff and partner engagement, ensuring alignment with regional early childhood and youth development strategies. We remain actively involved in helping the organization advance its change management priorities and strategic goals.

Motogo

In Fall 2024, Sangfroid Strategy partnered with Motogo to create a three-year strategic plan to support its mission of teaching problem-solving skills through motorcycle mechanics. Our process included extensive stakeholder engagement, incorporating input from staff, board members, students, contractors, schools, and funders to ensure a well-rounded approach. Over six weeks, we worked with Motogo’s leadership team and strategic planning committee to define clear goals and actionable strategies. The resulting plan provides a structured framework to guide decision-making and program growth. This strategic roadmap strengthens Motogo’s ability to build resilience, confidence, and technical skills in the youth it serves.

The Cleveland Rape Crisis Center

Sangfroid Strategy is guiding the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center through a collaborative strategic planning process to align internal strengths with external opportunities. This effort includes a kickoff meeting, committee formation, and a structured project timeline with key milestones. We are conducting internal assessments, including document reviews, interviews, and surveys, to gather insights from staff and board members. Additionally, stakeholder engagement and data analysis are helping to identify opportunities for strategic growth. The final plan will define CRCC’s vision, mission, core values, and goals, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities. The process will conclude with a board presentation and a detailed implementation roadmap to support long-term success.

LAWO and ABLE

In 2024, Sangfroid Strategy collaborated with LAWO and ABLE to develop a strategic plan that strengthens their ability to provide legal services and advocacy. The planning process was guided by a joint board and staff steering committee, ensuring alignment between leadership and organizational priorities. Through stakeholder engagement and structured discussions, we identified key areas for growth, operational improvements, and long-term sustainability. The resulting plan provides a clear roadmap for enhancing service delivery and advancing systemic change in legal aid.

Maryland Legal Aid

In 2023-2024, Sangfroid Strategy partnered with Maryland Legal Aid to develop a three-year strategic plan that reflects the organization’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. The process engaged over 100 staff members—one-third of the organization—who contributed through workgroups to shape the organization’s future direction. A combined board and staff committee guided the plan’s development, ensuring broad input and alignment with organizational goals. The resulting strategy strengthens Maryland Legal Aid’s ability to serve vulnerable communities while fostering internal growth and operational sustainability.

Martha Holden Jennings Foundation 

In 2024, Sangfroid Strategy partnered with the Martha Holden Jennings Foundation on a three-phase initiative to strengthen its impact and operational effectiveness. The project includes a historical analysis to assess past grantmaking strategies, an operational assessment to evaluate internal efficiencies, and the development of a strategic plan to guide future priorities. Through stakeholder engagement and data-driven insights, we are helping the foundation refine its approach to philanthropy and long-term sustainability. This comprehensive strategy ensures alignment with the foundation’s mission while optimizing its ability to support educational initiatives.

In 2025, Sangfroid Strategy will conduct a staff engagement survey for the Kettering Foundation to assess organizational culture and performance. This initiative includes designing a tailored assessment in collaboration with senior leadership, administering the survey, and ensuring high response rates. Our team will analyze the data to identify trends and areas for improvement, providing actionable recommendations to enhance staff engagement. The project will culminate in an executive summary report and a leadership presentation outlining clear implementation strategies.

Diversity Center of Northeast Ohio

In 2025, Sangfroid Strategy will assist the Diversity Center of Northeast Ohio (DCNEO) in developing a comprehensive strategic plan to enhance its impact and organizational effectiveness. This process includes project planning, internal assessments, and stakeholder engagement to understand the organization’s current state. Our team will conduct interviews, surveys, and competitor analysis to gather insights that will inform the strategic direction. The plan will be refined through workshops and finalized with clear objectives, goals, and implementation benchmarks. The project will conclude with a board presentation, and we will provide ongoing support to ensure successful implementation and long-term accountability.
